Bioclimatic Pergolas

Blindsup

The bioclimatic pergola with adjustable slats is your lifelong friend! For good reason: it allows you to enjoy your garden in any season.

In spring and summer: The slats open and close to protect you from the sun and regulate the temperature; in other words, it reduces heat while allowing a pleasant flow of fresh air.

In autumn and winter, the opening of the slats lets the sun’s rays in, warming your interior. But since these seasons can be unpredictable, closing the slats also provides shelter from rain and wind.

These bioclimatic pergolas are designed to withstand strong winds when closed.

The motorized aluminum adjustable slats are easily controlled with a remote control.

This allows you to instantly adjust sunlight, create refreshing natural ventilation in hot weather, or shelter yourself from the elements with a completely airtight closure.

If you prefer an entirely open roof space, you can opt for retractable fabrics or motorized top screens.

Additionally, motorized screens can protect you from the sun, wind, rain, and insects on the sides, providing optimal protection and usability for your outdoor living space. This way, you can enjoy your terrace longer in the evenings or during the seasons.

The bioclimatic pergola: A bridge between your home and your garden

Imagine this: outside, the heat is sweltering. You’re confined indoors, feeling suffocated. You need air.

Now imagine: outside, the weather is pleasant, but a heavy rain has been falling for hours. You want to enjoy your garden, but if you step outside through your sliding door, you’re sure to get soaked.

What can you do? Have you heard of the aluminum bioclimatic pergola? This modern sunshade makes your outdoor space accessible in both summer and winter.

What is an adjustable louvered pergola?

Originally, the pergola was simply a support for climbing plants, which served as a natural air conditioner. The structure itself, with its vertical bars, allowed ivy to grow and fill the entire space, resulting in a beautiful shaded area during the summer—100% natural! In winter, the absence of vegetation allowed sunlight to enter your home.

Today, the principle remains the same, except that the ivy has been replaced by adjustable louvers. It is these louvers that now serve to cool the space. We will detail this structure, so what exactly is an adjustable louvered pergola?

Characteristics of the Bioclimatic Pergola Structure

Our pergola is entirely made of aluminum, a proven metal known for its durability over time. The structure consists of:

Adjustable slats made of thermally lacquered extruded aluminum, available in 210mm or 300mm sizes.
In the 210mm slat version: 126x126mm extruded aluminum legs with a thickness of 3mm, and lateral beams of 190x50mm with a thickness of 3mm, allowing a span of up to 6 meters.
In the 300mm slat version: 150x150mm extruded aluminum legs with a thickness of 4mm, and lateral beams of 285x60mm with a thickness of 4mm, allowing a span of up to 7 meters.
A joint to prevent slat clacking when they close.
An integrated extruded aluminum gutter profile in the structure for better rainwater drainage.
SOMFY radio motorization (step-by-step opening) with a remote control. The rack and pinion drive ensures perfect synchronization of slat openings

A modern and eco-friendly pergola

For those of you who care about ecological considerations while also desiring aesthetics: the bioclimatic pergola with adjustable slats encompasses both aspects. It allows you to achieve an optimal energy balance while giving your outdoor space a contemporary look.

A modern pergola must address contemporary issues, and energy waste reduction is one of them. There’s no need for heating or air conditioning in this additional living space; the adjustable slats serve that purpose.

When it comes to ventilation, the same applies! If your bioclimatic pergola is attached to the wall of your living room, you can enjoy useful drafts during heatwaves: simply open your sliding glass door… Your sunshade takes care of the rest by capturing the cool air and directing it into your living room!

The pergola against a wall: a really good idea!

If you have an open terrace attached to your house, the bioclimatic pergola can easily be installed against the wall, becoming an extension of your interior. With a width of up to 7 meters and an extension of 5 meters, you gain up to 35 m² of usable space that adds to your building, creating a practical outdoor room for relaxing, reading, or entertaining friends!

Speaking of meals with friends… it’s time to discuss the options available for your bioclimatic pergola!

LED Lighting and ZIP Screen: Options for Your Bioclimatic Pergola

To enjoy your sunshade pergola even longer, know that there is an LED strip option; it installs within the structure of the pergola and allows you to illuminate it as night falls. This way, you can enjoy your garden both day and night… Get ready for evenings with friends and moonlit dinners, comfortably lit by the LEDs of your pergola.

Finally, if you need more privacy or are concerned about wind or heavy rain, the vertical ZIP screen with sheer or opaque fabric is an optional feature for your sunshade pergola. This makes it waterproof not just from above but also from the sides. With the ZIP vertical box that integrates into the side tracks of your sunshade, we simplify everything for you: just a simple zipper, and you’re all set!
